"Barbarian"

dir. Zach Cregger, 2022

"Barbarian" tells the story of a woman who arrives at her Airbnb to find someone already staying there. It's apparently been double-booked. The man who arrived before her offers to let her stay, since she can't find accomodations elsewhere. But she soon discovers that something is very wrong...

This movie has so many twists and turns, and I think it's much better to experience it without knowing any of them, so I won't be mentioning much of the plot. Go in with minimal knowledge and enjoy the ride!

But as for how I felt about it, personally, this was honestly one of my favorite movies of the year. For most of the time, I had no idea where the plot was going, but I was so excited to find out, and it didn't disappoint. It also switches between tones effortlessly. I've never seen a movie where I was totally tensed up with fear one moment, and then laughing out loud the next, without it even feeling jarring. Scary, funny, a little bit disturbing, and wholly enjoyable. I highly recommend it!
