THE GRAND GUIGNOL

The Grand Guignol was a theater in Paris, France, which ran from 1897-1962. It was famous for its horror plays, although it also put on comedies. The horror plays were extremely violent, and made use of innovative on-stage special effects; they even had their own blood recipe that would coagulate and scab.
